We are a little operation with a big heart dedicated to
making fresh, organic soap using locally grown and fairly traded
ingredients. While our handcrafted artisan soaps are made in
small batches in Sisters, Oregon, our attention to detail and
exceptional ingredients conjure visions of Provencial lavender
fields, Parisian perfumeries, and fine European style soaps from
the old country.
Ingredients and Suppliers:
We use only vegetable and food grade oils and plant based
essential oils for scent. Botanical ingredients, such as herbs,
roots, spices, seeds and grains add beauty and function to each
bar. Farmers and local business supply many of the ingredients
for our soaps, including goat’s milk, lavender and its essential oil,
calendula, beeswax, peppermint, spearmint and their essential
oils. We support businesses that pay living wages and keep
proceeds in local economies. We also support fairly traded
enterprises, such as Agbanga Karite, an African women’s cooperative
that harvests fruit from karite trees to make the shea butter used
in our soaps.
How the Soap is Made:
Our soap is created using the Cold Process method. Room
temperature oils are combined with sodium hydroxide, water,
or other liquids (such as organic aloe juice, various teas--even
locally brewed beer!) A chemical reaction results in the creation
of one of our uniquely scented soaps.
Using the Soap:
Check the soap label for the “made on” date. Our soap is best
used after curing 3-6 weeks, by which time the soap has
suficiently dried and hardened. The soap will also last longer in
the bath once it has cured. Keep soap out of standing water in
order to avoid softening. Also, keep soap out of direct sunlight as
it may distort the color and scent of the natural ingredients.
Treat yourself, family & friends to this little joy of handcrafted
soap from La Petite Savonnerie. Let its beauty, scent, and
emollience delight your senses. Enjoy!
Merci!
